When you are practicing the art of yoga you do not need very many tools, but there are some yoga supplies that can really make the experience much more enjoyable. Below is a list of some of the most popular yoga supplies that are used today.
Yoga Mat - There are a handful of yoga supplies that you do not want to go without, such as a yoga mat. A yoga mat, or sometimes referred to as a sticky mat is used to help create traction for your feet and hands so you do not slip as you work up a sweat. It is also common to have if you participate in a yoga class at the gym or in a studio because it will provide you with some cushion from the hard floor. It also helps you determine your personal space. Yoga mats are relatively inexpensive and start around $20. If you do not want to purchase your own yoga mat, most classes have additional yoga studio supplies on hand to rent.
Yoga Grips – If you do not like to use a mat or practice yoga on the go and do not want to tote around your mat everywhere, yoga grips are a perfect solution. The yoga grips fit over your hands and the balls of your feet so you can practice yoga on just about any surface.
Yoga Straps – A lot of yoga positions require you to grab your feet or your hands, but not everyone is able to do that right out of the gate. Yoga straps are an extension for your arms to help you grab your feet and hands. They are also inexpensive. As far as cheap yoga supplies go, if you were to check out some discount yoga supplies you could probably find them ranging from $5 – $10.
Aromatherapy – Yoga is about finding peace and harmony and the best way to enhance that and find your center is with aromatherapy. Particular scents like lavender, lemongrass or grapefruit will help you enhance serenity while you are meditating. You can purchase candles or oils in whatever scent brings calmness to you, or you can check out some yoga and meditation supplies to see what scents are recommended.
A Yoga Bag – If you are on always on the go or practice yoga in a gym or at a studio, then having a nice yoga bag that you can carry your clothes, grips, straps or mat in is essential. It will help keep you organized so you are always ready for your next class.
